Annecy announced changes to its 2018 Winter Olympic

Annecy announced changes to its 2018 Winter Olympics bid this week. All events will take place within 20 miles of each other in Annecy or Chamonix. This is a big change from its original proposal.

Chamonix is going to have world class Ice Hockey, while its intended that Les Houches is home to Alpine skiing. Whoa!

To complement this Eurostar has also recently touted a new service bringing passengers from London to Geneva in under five hours. Although investment will largely be dependant on the success of a the Annecy bid, it certainly sounds as though the local area will be benefitting in some serious investment.

Given how quickly London’s Olympic 2012 has come upon us, it won’t be long to wait for the Olympic authorities decision on Annecy 2018.
